With nearly half a million flights a year, Heathrow is the world’s busiest international airport - but as well as the 65 million human passengers, each year around 40 million animals fly in and out of the UK, most of them checking in at the Animal Reception Centre, affectionately known as the ARC. Animal Airport captures all behind-the-scenes action in the terminal buildings and on the runways…From the man smuggling a tortoise from Morocco in his underpants to the shipment of four cheetahs unexpectedly detained at the ARC.

Publicity Notes
Heathrow: the world’s busiest airport. More planes...more passengers...more ANIMALS than any other. Nowhere else will you find as many species bagged, crated and caged as they journey – some legally, many illegally – across the globe.
The hub for this inhuman traffic is the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre...The ARC. From stories of impounded big cats and seized animals to supply the illegal pet trade to emigrating pets, destination: Down Under, Animal Airport follows the tales of the creatures that pass through its doors.
